General Information About Qur’an InstituteThe Qur’an Institute in a part-time Qur’an Program that meets once or twice a week (depending on the location). Currently there are more than 200 students in the Qur’an Institute. Each semester of the Qur’an Institute typically runs for 8 weeks. The primary focus of the Qur’an Institute is to teach students how to read the Qur’an fluently, while pronouncing the different letters and diacritics of the Qur’an accurately. The Qur’an Institute in As part of Dar-us-Salaam's efforts to expand its services in other areas, Dar-us-Salaam held a Qur'an Summer Camp in Germantown MD during the Summer of 2009. 20 students were enrolled in the Qur'an Summer Camp. Curriculum OutlineThe Qur’an Institute has three sections, which are divided based on the ages of the students. Though the focus of the curriculum for all the sections is the same (that is, reading), the level of the topics and the pace at which they are covered is different. Below is a detailed outline of the curriculum of all the sections.
1. Children’s Section (4-6 years old) This section is for the students who are between 4 and 6 years old. Students between the ages of 3 and 4 are placed on a probationary period of two weeks. Students learn how to read the Qur’an fluently over a period of 7 or 8 semesters (based on the student’s ability)
2. Youth Section (7-12 years old) This section is for the students who are between 7 and 12 years old. Students learn how to read the Qur’an fluently over a period of 4 or 5 semesters (based on the student’s ability) For a detailed curriculum outline of the Youth Section, please click here.
